Free Tickets for Harvest Festival

I'll be participating in my very first Harvest Festival this October 9-11 in Ontario, California. If you're unfamiliar with Harvest Festivals (I was), they have been doing large, original art & craft shows in Northern & Southern California since 1972. Because my cookbook, Delightfully Free, is self published, I qualify to be a vendor and that's where I'll be this October 9-11 selling and signing my book.

The Harvest Festival sent me 4 tickets for the show and I'd like to give them away as I've done in the past with other shows: If you want up to 2 free tickets to the Harvest Festival in Ontario, California, just send me an email at delightfullyfree@gmail.com and let me know if you'd like 1 or 2 free tickets. I'll give them away to whoever emails me first.

Here's the Harvest Festival's Flyer for the event:

Delightfully Free goes to Bastyr University

Wednesday my husband Brian & I had another happy visit with our friends at Bastyr University's San Diego campus. As usual, I brought copies of my cookbook, Delightfully Free, and plenty of samples of my surprisingly healthy gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free goodies.

For those who might be unfamiliar with Bastyr University, it is a prominent naturopathic medical school founded in 1978 and named after the founders' beloved teacher, Dr. John Bastyr. The campus  sits on 51 beautiful acres in Kenmore, Washington and draws students from all over the country.

In 2012, Bastyr University opened a new campus in San Diego, California, an important development, because Bastyr University at San Diego is the only fully accredited naturopathic medical school in California!

Bastyr's beautiful 51 acre main campus in Kenmore, WA

I first visited the San Diego campus in June, 2014 and have made friends with the talented students  who are eager to learn and then go make a difference in other people's lives by healing holistically and naturopathically. The inaugural graduating class of 2016 is almost on its way!

Of course I don't come empty-handed when I visit. This time I brought samples of recipes from my first book, and also some samples of recipes from my upcoming cookbook. I offered my Black Bean Brownies (p. 135) from Delightfully Free, and two recipes which will be in my new book, Even More Delightfully Free, coming out in October. The new recipes were the Golden Beet & Kale Salad and the Oat Free Cinnamon Granola. I'm happy to report that they loved all 3! Next time when we return, I should have my new cookbook with me :).

It really is so rewarding to see these soon-to-be naturopathic doctors who know the importance of nutrition, so enthused about the clean, healthy recipes in Delightfully Free.

I love that they want to cook from the cookbook for themselves and that as future proponents of healthy eating in their own practices, they will possibly recommend my cookbooks to their patients. Delightfully Free is currently carried in over 200 naturopathic, integrative and holistic medical practices across the country.

I will be back at Bastyr again for the Holidays and I can't wait to hear what they think about my new  book.

Wishing you health & Joy, ~ Tracy

So Much More than just another Gluten Free Cookbook

Delightfully Free's 141 recipes are all gluten free. But, plenty of other cookbooks contain gluten free recipes. In fact, it's easy to find gluten free recipes today, but is that all you're after!?! Have you seriously  asked the question: what else is in these gluten free recipes I get in the gluten free cookbooks or off the internet or in the packaged, processed  meals and snacks I buy at the store?

For too many years, people putting out gluten free products or cookbooks have been taking out the gluten but adding in a whole host of ingredients that we'd be better off without. Among those ingredients are simple carbs, starches, saturated fats, refined sugars, corn, soy, yeast,  and dairy.

I've heard so many people tell me that they started gaining weight and/or spiking their blood sugar or having issues with inflammation while on a gluten-free diet. This should not be okay! Those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity can and should be able to eat much healthier than what they're being offered.

If my goal had been simply to churn out yet another gluten free cookbook, I could have done that and become book number one thousand, two hundred and--you fill in the number. Instead, my focus has never been limited to simply removing gluten at the expense of nutrition, health and other food sensitivities. That's why my recipes never contain dairy, refined sugar, yeast or peanuts. I also avoid soy and corn.

Delightfully Free emphasizes nutrition and healthy eating. That's why my Garlic Cream Sauce is made from cauliflower and white beans, and my Chocolate Chip Cookies are made from almond meal, and why I have BBQ sauce made with natural sweeteners, not high fructose corn syrup, and why my Black Bean Brownies and Chocolate Cake are made with Black Beans which contain protein and fiber, which, in addition to its other benefits, helps keep blood sugar from spiking and adds protein.

My emphasis on healthy eating means you will never find artificial dyes or alcohol sugars in my recipes.

But, the best thing of all is that Delightfully Free contains recipes which the whole family will love, which means that you fix only one meal which benefits both the allergen sensitive and the allergen free people you care most about. That's why between the covers of Delightfully Free you'll find Lasagna, Chicken Enchilada Casserole, Pizzas, Pastas, Breakfast dishes, Muffins, Breads, Cookies, Cakes with 6 different frostings, soups, salads and 7 salad dressings--selections which are not simply gluten, dairy, yeast and refined sugar free, but healthy and nutritious as well.

So, I care about quality which is also why I had Delightfully Free printed on glossy, 100 Lb paper with a beautiful color photograph for virtually every recipe. I also appreciate practicality and that's why this hardback book has a hidden spiral so that it lays open and flat to any page.

I hope you will consider Delightfully Free for your family's health and nutritional wellbeing. If you have any questions, please email me at delightfullyfree@gmail.com. If you decide to try Delightfully Free, you can purchase it right on this website and I will be honored to send you out a signed copy.
